National investigators inspect government-run jails in Taiz

A team of investigators from the National Commission of Enquiry has visited the government-run jails in Taiz city to check for any irregularities.

The team inspected the detention centers run by the Criminal Investigation Department, the military police and the Central Prison.

Members of the team told Saba that they collected lists of prisoners' names to look at the status of the prisoners, any possible abuses against them and the conformity of the overall quality of the jails with the international standards.

The chiefs of the departments and prisoners welcomed the team's visit and assessment promising to always offer facilitations for members of the Commission.
