[27/12/2017 08:41]

CAIRO-SABA
Saudi ambassador to our country Mohammed Al-Jaber has confirmed that Iran provided Houthis with ballistic missiles in form of pieces through Hodieda seaport, then experts from Hezbollah and Iran reassembled them to target Saudi Arabia.

Al-Jaber's statement came during a brief meeting held in Cairo Wednesday about the latest military, security and humanitarian developments in Yemen. The meeting convened with presence of the speaker of Arab Parliament Dr Masha'al Assalami, Deputy Speaker of Yemeni Parliament Ali Ashadadi and a n umber of Yemeni MPs and members of Arab Parliament bas well as representatives of Arab countries in the Arab League. The gathering aimed to discuss the latest developments in Yemen.

Al-Jaber cited different facts about the ongoing conflict in Yemen since the beginning of Houthi militia coup d'état against the political transition process in Yemen. He said:" Houthis had ruined Yemenis hope of political and economic stability and rescinded from the Peace and Partnership Agreement the singed in 2104, further they rebuffed the UN special envoy to Yemen Isama'il Old Sheikh Ahmed suggestion about handing over Hodeida management to international party".

The Saudi ambassador noted that Houthi militias signed on eight agreements with the Yemeni tribes and Salafists some of which sponsored by the UN however they violated all of them. They also entered into agreement with the former President Ali Saleh, then when he had come to recognize the of Iranian presence in Yemen, he abandoned them, changed his position , they killed him.

Al-Jaber went on explaining that Houthis have rejected all proposals for political solutions, noting that the militias moved in response to Iranian insinuation to take control over Bab Al-Mandab Strait, instead of heading to Marib, the oil and gas-rich province.

The Saudi diplomat stated that Yemeni troops backed by the Saudi-led Coalition forces have managed to drive the militiamen out of Aden and the official armed forces have been stationed just 30km from the capital Sana'a. At the meantime, KS Relief Center and Humanitarian Aids has made great efforts and there has been a plan for humanitarian operations to help offering Yemeni people the needed support.

For his part, the Speaker of Arab Parliament announced that the Parliament would work out a plan to stand up to Iranian interference in Yemen at both national and international level. He denounced Iran's policy toward Yemen, mainly providing Houthi militia with ballistic missiles". For the first time throughout history militia has possessed ballistic missiles in flagrant violation to international law and UN Security Council resolutions", said Al-Assalami.
