Minister of Culture Marwan Damaj said:" Culture plays key role in the war on terrorism as culture advocates diversity, multiplicity and freedom as well as it promotes humankind desire for coexistence".
Speaking at the "Culture and Follow-up Implementing Sustainable Development 2030 Conference"—held in Arab League Headquarters in Cairo Wednesday – Damaj highlighted the significant role cultural institutions should undertake for promoting coexistence, freedom of religion and expression and tolerance values".
The Minister of Culture suggested that investment in culture shall be made a priority in Arab World. He said:" Despite of economic hardships and security priorities in our countries, investment in culture has become high priority".
He went on saying "Yemen amid present circumstances has come to understand that cultural development is urgently needed to overcome culture of violence and terror, and move forward to freedom and equity".
Damaj, added: "Yemeni people and government while have been struggling with terrorist reactionary forces belonging to Medieval ages culture, they have no choice but to promote democratic and cultural values that make people accept diversity and coexistence".
