Saleh-Houthi coup caused too critical humanitarian situation, Dep FM says
[22/10/2017 02:20]

RIYADH-SABA
Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mansour Bajjash said the Saleh-Houthi militias' coup d'état of 2014 caused the humanitarian situations in Yemen to be too critical.

In a meeting with the Acting Ambassador of Japan to Yemen Yuji Hattori in Riyadh on Sunday, he said that the Yemeni government is pinning hopes on the friendly countries to offer more humanitarian aid to mitigate this catastrophic crisis.

He asserted that the government is keen to reach a peaceful settlement for the conflict, although the militias have rejected all the previous peace offers and, rather, tried to invest the crisis for their own gains; overstating the consequences of the crisis at the expense of their guilt in triggering it.

The government is in favor of peace based on the internationally recognized terms of reference for peace; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UN resolutions especially UNSC resolution no. 2216.

The meeting also addressed Yemeni-Japanese cooperation in the field of education and training as well as the Japanese humanitarian relief aid to Yemen.
