UN: 4.5 Yemeni million children "may not finish the school year."
[01/08/2017 03:38]
ADEN-SABA
"Months of unpaid salaries have affected over three-quarters of the impoverished country's teachers, meaning up to 4.5 million children may not finish the school year," UNICEF Representative in Yemen Mertixell Relano told a press conference in Sana'a.

"At the moment we have more than 166,000 teachers in the country that have not received a salary since October last year. This is more or less 73 percent of the total number of teachers in the country," Relano said.

The state of children being out of school means their exposure to the risk of early marriage by their parents or recruitment to be terrifying killers by the rebel Saleh-Houthi militia.
