U.S. Treasury Sanctions 21 Individuals, Entities for Involvement in Financing Houthi Militias
The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Aden governordirects Women Committee to start over

The governor of Aden has directed the National Women Committee to make a new beginning in Aden, long after the committee's suspension of activity due to the Saleh-Houthi militias' war.

Governor al-Muflahi issued the directive during a meeting with CSO female activists including history teacher in Aden University, Dr. Asmaa Ahmed Raymi and human rights advocates MunaHaytham and Ayesha Abdulaziz.

The governor cited the contribution of women to the enrichment of the history of Aden and raising Aden's status as a peaceful civil city.

"The restoration of Adeni women's pioneering role will come through the empowerment of women's role so that they can participate in all aspects of daily life," the governor said.

"The historical role of Adeni women was not limited to civil and community aspecs but included all the peaceful and military struggles that the city has ever gone through in the past."

The female activists briefed the governor on women's sufferingthat arised from the Saleh-Houthi militias' war; marginalization to the point of ending the National Women Committee's existence and freezing any pro-women activism.
