President al-Alimi: Relations with Kingdom exceptionally robust, terrorist designation the best peaceful option to deter the rogue militias
[30/01/2025 01:32]

RIYADH-SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Political Leadership Council (PLC) has made it clear that the designation of the Houthi militias as a Terrorist Organization by the International community is the best peaceful option to deter the ill-practices of this "Rogue Group" after it had turned down all good offices to put an end of the Yemeni people's suffering.

In an interview with the Saudi "Ukaz Newspaper" the President praised the decision of the U.S. President Donald Trump to re-designate the Houthi militias as Foreign Terrorist Organization (RTO), in the hope that the militias will get this "firm" message well.

His Excellency called on the Houthi militias to put the Yemeni people's interest above the interests of its backers and come to peace option in accordance with the nationally, regionally and internationally agreed on peace references.

President al-Alimi said that the PLC and the government welcomed every peace initiative and proposal, including the truce which the government agreed on in April 2022 and has continued to observe until now in attempt to serve the Yemeni people's interests despite unstopped military violations by the militias which have continued to commit grave human rights violations and violate national and international laws.

His Excellency added" Responding to the government's good faith initiatives, the Houthi militias carried out drone and missiles attacks on the oil exports seaports in Hadramout and Shabwa governorates and targeting the international maritime shipping lanes, deprived the Yemeni people the urgently needed revenues to pay salaries and secure basic services, seriously deteriorating the national currency value to an unprecedented levels".

The Chairman of the PLC said" There is no better option than to support the internationally recognized government by the international community to enable it to take full control over all the Yemeni territories".

He also restated that the peace option has always been a strategic choice, noting that peace doors can't be closed in case that there is a responsible partner, that means it is too difficult to rule the country without participation by all Yemenis, likewise it is unacceptable to be there an armed group seeks to dispute the state's exclusive mandates, doesn't recognize the national and international conventions.

President al-Alimi made it clear that the available and the most reliable path for peace in Yemen comes through backing the internationally recognized government, assisting its capacities to build the economy, provide basic services, protect its territories and regional waters.

The Chairman of the PLC stressed that Yemen's recovery and stability it isn't only a national issue, but also a pressing regional and global need, given that Yemen's stability is crucial factor to maintain the peace, the region's security and the significant waterways.
