Italy was crowned the Billie Jean King Cup for women's tennis teams by defeating Slovakia 2-0 in the final match in the Spanish city of Malaga.

Italian Jazmine Paolini, ranked fourth in the world, defeated Slovak Rebecca Sramkova 6-2 and 6-1 after her compatriot Lucia Bronzetti beat Viktoria Hrankakova 6-2 and 6-4.

This is Italy's fifth title after 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2013, noting that it overcame Japan in the quarter-finals and Poland, led by its star Iga Swiatek, in the semi-finals.
