Mujalli praises French role in Yemen
[17/07/2024 06:13]

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Othman Mujalli met Wednesday with the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen Catherine Karm-Kammoun to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Mujalli congratulated the French ambassador on the occasion of her country's celebrations of the National Day, noting to the distinguished relations between the Yemeni people and the friendly French people.

He appreciated the clear French position from the beginning in support of legitimacy and Paris's keenness on the stability of Yemen and the end of the coup and the return of development and investment, as France is one of Yemen's most important partners in the oil and gas sector, as well as the development, humanitarian, political and economic aspects.

He affirmed that the Houthi militia has thwarted the Muscat consultations on the file of prisoners and detainees, as it has previously thwarted previous consultations in the context of its escape from fulfilling humanitarian obligations and entitlements, including the release of prisoners and kidnapped civilians, activists and journalists, foremost among them the prominent politician Mohammed Qahtan.

Meanwhile, the legitimate government has shown great flexibility in order to reach an agreement that would lead to the exchange of prisoners and kidnapped persons on the basis of all for all, but the Houthi militia, as usual, worked to disrupt the dialogue and refrained from disclosing the location of Quhtan's detention and did not agree to allow his family to visit him or even reassure him, in a position devoid of any human values and coexistence, he said.

Mujalli pointed out that the Houthi militia is working to exacerbate the situation and inflame the conflict on various fronts, in addition to continuing to launch drones and daily sniping, and move military equipment and vehicles in an unjustified provocation to the Yemeni army and people.

Mujalli condemned the Houthi militia's reckless behavior, manifested in expanding the circle of Houthi terrorism, kidnapping and detaining employees of embassies and international organizations working in their controlled areas, fabricating charges against them, and forcing them to make false confessions under threat and torture, in a clear extortion of the international community and humanitarian organizations.

He stressed that the legitimate government is urging them to relocate their headquarters to the liberated governorates to facilitate their work and protect the personnel from the brutality of the Houthi militias.

He pointed out that the Houthis have not adhered to the roadmap and have evaded political and economic obligations by striking oil facilities, preventing oil exports, escalating in the Red Sea, and economically dividing the country. He indicated that the Presidential Leadership Council is open to anything that serves the Yemeni people economically, livelihoods, and humanely, restores the monetary cycle, unifies the currency, and mitigates the catastrophic effects caused by the Houthi measures on the economy.

He emphasized that the Central Bank's decisions are independent sovereign decisions aimed at preserving the Bank's legal status, including decisions that ensure the cancellation of counterfeit currencies and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing carried out by the Houthis, taking advantage of the part of the banking system under their control.

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Othman Mujalli condemned the Zionist arrogance and its futile attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause and commit brutal massacres against innocent Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and destroy the infrastructure.

He stressed that the Palestinian issue is the issue of all Arabs and Muslims, and that the Yemeni people stand united with their brethren in all Palestinian territories and with the rights of the Palestinian people to regain their land and resolve their cause justly.

He warned that Israel's continued hostile approach will be reflected on it through future generations.

The French Ambassador expressed her country's interest in ending the conflict in Yemen and starting reconstruction and development, exporting oil, and strengthening the economy to serve the Yemeni people who are suffering the ravages of war, renewing France's support for the legitimate government in Yemen.
