Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States, Jamila Raja, met on Thursday with Robert Palladino, an official in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries across a variety of fields.

Al-Mahwali praises efforts of UNHCR to technical education in Yemen

Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technical Education and Vocational Training Abd-Rabu al-Mahwali has praised efforts of UN High Commission for Refugees for supporting technical education and vocational training sector by rehabilitating educational workshops, training halls and training more than 150 male and female youth.

In his meeting with a delegation from the organization on Wednesday, the two parties discussed cooperation in improving technical education in Yemen and reviewed interventions and projects implemented by the commission in Aden, especially in technical education and vocational training.

The two parties also reviewed the general situation of the technical education and vocational training in liberated provinces and damages hit the educational institution over the war.

Al-Mahwali confirmed readiness of the ministry on enhancing active partnership with the commission to realize more support needed for improving educational process in technical education institutes.

The UNHCR's delegation praised efforts exerted by ministry of higher education, scientific research and technical education and vocational training and efforts of Aden local authority in making improvement projects successful.

The delegation confirmed that the organization will double its support during the forthcoming period for technical education and vocational training sector.

Al-Mahwali and the delegation paid an inspection visit to the National Institute for Technicians in Dar Sa'ad District to inspect the ongoing work in training labs and situation of the trainers.
