The people of Tiham region, Hodeidah governorate, staged today, Tuesday, large demonstration in the district of Hays, to protest the closure of Hays-al-Garahi highway by Iran-backed Houthi militiamen, calling for opening the road to ease their movement.
The Governor of Hodeidah Dr. al-Hassan Tahir, local authority, representatives of the political parties and community leaders were among the demonstrators.
The protestors denounced Houthi militias' intransigence and insistence on keeping the highway closed for several years, causing the inhabitants unspeakable suffering.
The demonstrators called on the UN and its Mission to Monitor Stockholm Agreement to shoulder their responsibility, mount pressures upon the Houthi militias to open Hays- al-Garahi highway as it is a humanitarian demand must be met unconditionally.
